INDEPENDENT specializes in the development, financing, production, sales and distribution of independent feature films. Led by CEO Luc Roeg, INDEPENDENT has a team of highly motivated and experienced professionals with expertise in project development, production, structured finance, sales and marketing. INDEPENDENT has also recently established a UK Distribution arm.

By having the ability to develop material in-house, INDEPENDENT is able to identify and acquire rights to the intellectual property and start building value in these assets from a very early stage. This is an important aspect of the company's financial model as INDEPENDENT looks to generate revenue from every stage in the value chain. INDEPENDENT produced Bernard Rose's MR NICE, starring Rhys Ifans, Chloë Sevigny and David Thewlis which was released in the UK by E1.

More recently the company released the adaptation of Lionel Shriver's novel WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, directed by Lynne Ramsay and starring Tilda Swinton and John C Reilly. The film premiered in Cannes Film Festival and has since been released in the UK by Artificial Eye. In the last month it has won the Best British Film Award at the London Critic's Circle, and has been nominated for 3 BAFTAs, including Outstanding British Film. In late 2011 Director Lynne Ramsay won Best Director at the 2011 British Independent Film Awards, while lead actress Tilda Swinton has won 6 awards for her role, with a further 10 nominations.

In Independent's distribution slate, war documentary Hell and Back Again has been shortlisted for the 2012 Oscars.
